1920s Book Trade
London as a centre for the book trade: Using the example of The Hogarth Press’s sales figures of their 1921 title Note-books of Anton Tchekhov, this map shows locations of bookshops with their sales records from material in the Hogarth Press archive.
This project originated from Andrew Nash’s London Rare Books School 2019 course on Publisher’s Archives that included a research visit to the University of Reading to study archival holdings of various publishers.
Station to Station
Europa Erlesen Greater London is a literary anthology on London and its suburbs, published as part of the bibliophile series Europa Erlesen by Wieser.
Eine literarische Odyssee durch die Londoner Stadtlandschaft führt vom Zentrum zu den Peripherien, durch die Seitengassen und Vorstädte, durch das Universum London. Auf dem Weg werden die Geschichte der Stadt und ihre globalen Verknüpfungen sichtbar: Handel, Industrialisierung, Zentrum eines Kolonialreichs. Eine einzigartige Mischung kultureller Einflüsse prägt heute diese eigene Welt der Stadt. Mit einer Brücke über die Themse begann ihre Geschichte, nun verbindet ein Netz an Pfaden alle Menschen und ihre alltäglichen Orte. Auf Besuch bei Londonern aus aller Welt wird klar: London ist eine große Erzählung, die jeden Tag neu entsteht.
